On the Workstation page, scanning a barcode may require the additional step of pressing the "Enter" key to confirm the entry. If this is the case, then the "Carriage Return" functionality of the barcode scanner is turned off. Turning it back on will effectively make the barcode scanner press Enter after it has scanned an item, which will submit the request.
Solution:
In the instruction manual for the barcode scanner, there should be a guide for how to add a “Carriage Return” to your scans. There might be a barcode in the manual for you to scan to activate the feature, or it may provide instructions on how to enable this feature through settings. Every brand/model of scanner is different, so exact instructions can't be defined unfortunately.
This is a setting that has to be changed on the scanner itself though.
